There are numerous ways for a person to remove unwanted hair from their body.

Shaving, Threading, Plucking, Waxing, home remedies…..

Every method is different and not just one method is widely preferred, everyone has their own preference, yet collectively which method is cost-effective? Which one gives the best result? Which one hurts the least?

We shall compare two such methods – Waxing and Laser Hair Removal.

Laser has gained popularity over the past decade as an effective way of permanent hair removal over the traditional Waxing, to figure out which one better let’s discuss what they are, their merits, and drawbacks.

How does Waxing work?
If you are a regular or have never tried removing hair from your body, you still know what waxing is.
Easy and simple, not much is needed for waxing, stripes of sturdy fabric, hot wax and an applicator which is used to apply the wax in the direction of hair growth.
Then the strip of fabric is pressed and smoothed down over the wax in the direction of the growth. Lastly stretch your skin and pull the strip off in the opposite direction of hair growth.
This technique pulls the hairs from the roots resulting in a smooth skin without any visible hair. Remember your hair will grow back in several weeks, meaning you would have to keep repeating the process.
How does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal is more complex using a high-powered light-emitting laser that attacks the hair follicles under the skin destroying it so that hair cannot grow back.
The process starts with shaving, cleaning and cooling the skin followed by applying the laser to targeted areas of hair removal.
Laser hair removal is not a one-time method, based on your hair growth, color and thickness, it takes several sessions and touch ups but the results can last months to even years.
Growth of hair occurs in stages so the sessions are timed a month apart.
What are the Merits?
Waxing  Laser
  1. Waxing is effective on all types of hair and skin, resulting in hair-free smooth skin.
  2. Another benefit is that it can be done at home but only do it if you properly know how although it’s best to get it done by a professional.
  3. A single sitting of waxing does costs less than laser, however if you have been waxing for a long time, over years the money adds up and can end up costing more than laser treatment.
  1. Looking for long-time results, laser is the way to go. This method is comparatively time- effective, as doing it on large area of the body can typically be finished in few minutes.
  2. People with sensitive skin can benefit from it, as it totally safe. It also helps in de-pigmentation or evening of the skin tone.
  3. The best part of it all it can be done on any desired part of your body, which in case of waxing can be difficult.
  4. Added bonus, laser treatment is less painful than waxing.

What are the Drawbacks?

Waxing Laser
  1. The most common is that it hurts!  Especially around a sensitive areas of your body.
  2. Waxing just pulls the hairs from the follicles meaning it’s not permanent and your hair will eventually grow back.
  3. It can also irritate, leads to redness for delicate skin and can cause in-grown hairs.
  4. All time hair free skin is what you desire then waxing might not be the best option. Why? Well because for the wax to grip your hair, you at least need it to be one –fourth of an inch long and there is fact that until you learn it to do it at home, you would have to visit a salon every few weeks for long periods of time.
  1. The first and foremost that comes up is the cost, it is expensive yet, if you look carefully you will find that it might be more expensive than single session of waxing, even if done at home the cost of materials accumulate which in the long run add up being a lot more than laser treatment as a whole.
  2. The real issue might be that results depend on the skin and hair type and works differently on different people. It works best for darker thicker hair.
