How to take care of Dry Skin & Dull Skin this Winter

Hello winter! It’s the time for coziness, cuddles and warm and lazy sunshine. Also the time for dry skin and dull skin problems, right?! No! It doesn’t have to be, if you take that wee bit extra care of yourself, which your body truly deserves!

To prevent skin from dryness, additional moisture helps, but you need to do more to actually counteract these effects and keep skin looking youthful and smooth. To reduce chapping, redness, itching, and keep your skin super happy during winter, try these tips.

Drink Enough Water:

The air is drier in winter we tend to drink less water because we turn to hot drinks like coffee and tea, but don’t forget that your skin needs hydration from the inside, out.  And as a result, water evaporates from your body easily. Hence, you need to keep your skin hydrated, and also, a little warm water with lemon can be very refreshing and hydrating at the same time.

Change Your Cleanser:

Cleansers can be extremely drying to the skin. If you’re used to using options that contain glycolic or salicylic acid, rotate with a more hydrating version that contains moisturizing ingredients. Try like Moisture-Rich Cleansing Lotion, or for really dry skin, Purity Cleansing Balm. After cleansing, don’t leave the skin naked for more than 30 seconds, as this can dehydrate it, leading to increased dryness. Apply a hydrating toner and moisturizer to seal in moisture.

Eat hydrating foods:

By changing your eating habits, you can also rehydrate dry skin from the inside out. Foods with high water content, like cucumber, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, melon, leafy greens, and citrus fruits replenish fluids internally. Hydrating foods also provide a healthy boost of vitamins and minerals that helps boost immunity and keep winter colds at bay.

Shower in Lukewarm Water:

Especially in winter season, we take hot shower and it might seem soothing during the winter season, but the high temperature dries skin out rapidly. Lower the temperature just so the water is lukewarm to avoid stripping away your skin’s natural moisture barrier.

Revamp your makeup:

Include lip balms and hydrating foundation to your cosmetic bag. Opt for cream based blush and hydrating mist to lock your skin’s smoothness. Also avoid using mousse foundation, powder or pancakes in winter.

Moisturize frequently:

In winter our skin becomes very dry and due this dryness of the skin we have to keep it moisturized. Heating systems dry out the air, so consider installing a humidifier in your home, particularly in your bedroom, to put moisture back into the air and help prevent your skin from drying out.

Whip winter toning and scrubs:

Avoid all those cosmetic products that lead to dryness and discover handmade toning and scrubs. Mash banana with two tablespoon of honey and two tablespoon of oats. Let the pack dry. Scrub it off in a circular motion. Mix two tablespoon of sugar with 4-5 drops of olive oil in it. Use it to exfoliate and nourish your skin. Mix two tablespoon of cocoa powder with two tablespoon of sugar. Add some drops of lemon and almond oil to it. Mix it well and apply this pack all over your face and hands. Keep on scrubbing until the mixture dries. Now wash it off with cold water. This will work as a good scrub in winter.

As we all know winter demands more skin precautions. Don’t be too lazy to follow the tips, otherwise you may regret, later.
